Carine’s World

I admit to being a little obsessed with checking Barneys NY microsite The Window for images from their “Carine’s World” themed fall women’s ad campaign, a celebration of the iconic style of Carine Roitfeld, former editor-in-chief of French Vogue.

The campaign was shot by Mario Sorrenti (with whom Ms Roitfeld worked during her decade at Vogue) and features images of individuals cast by Carine, including close friends and family.  Each image is accompanied by a personal quote by Ms. Roitfeld reflecting how that individual has personally affected her life.  For example Carine says of Olympia Scarry, who is snapped wearing Haider Ackermann:

“Olympia often attended Vogue parties, and I always found her very beautiful — and then I discovered her talent as an artist. Her work is strong and also very feminine. She has a touching, unique kind of elegance.”

Below we see her daughter Julia, wearing Givenchy:

There is also a short film capturing the identity of “Carine’s World”, which, along with these images and others featured on The Window, will be unveiled in the Madison Avenue windows of Barneys NY this Fall. You can (like me!) check back to The Window every day between now and Sept 2nd to see more images from the campaign.

How interesting! I must admit that, likely because I am from North America and grew up with Anna Wintour, I’ve never found magazine editors a very appealing breed. But you make Carine sound like a fascinating woman, so I will have to investigate this campaign 🙂

I prefer Emmanuelle to Carine yet have checked these images obsessively as well! Can’t wait for September 2nd for the unveiling of the windows and to know how they will be received.
