During my trip to Texas GreedyGrechen contacted me via Twitter to let me know about MOSS designer consignment store, a boutique located on South Lamar, Austin. She told me it was a must visit and so I trekked there for a little exploring…
Sari the boutique owner was incredibly helpful and patient as I lugged about twenty different outfits into the changing rooms with me. I found amazing deals on clothing from Chanel, Gucci and Matthew Williamson to name just a few examples. A Gucci trench dress caught my eye but felt a little too big for me (Moss model on the left, me on the right, below):
I was also very impressed with the range and quality of shoes on display. I found a wonderful pair of chunky Marni heels I think I will wear to the IFB conference next month, a BCBG black dress with cutout shoulders and a cute fitted black jacket all at an absolute steal. I’ll post the designer bargains in outfits posts in the weeks to come. I am now on a spending ban until my birthday month of November (eek and please keep me in check Blog Reader).
Moss set prices jointly with customers who donate clothes and accessories for sale, at around 25% of the original retail price (current seasons are generally higher however). Prices are full for the first 30 days, 25% off during the second 30 days, then 50% during the final 30 days, after which owners can collect unsold wares or they are donated. I almost bought a pair of acne jeans for $40, don’t ask me why not, I probably was too busy starting loving at this Pucci bean clutch:
MOSS have a fabulous blog which lists all their new items. Shown below: Herve Leger coral bandage skirt; Velvet purple tank top; Etro handbag and YSL espadrilles.
I found so many treasures in this shop I’m addicted to and obsessively checking their new stock. Do pay Sari a visit if you are in Austin, but call Moss if you spy anything on their blog you would like to purchase.
