In New York City I’m fortunate to live close to some fabulous consignment stores that offer both new and lightly worn designer items at an irresistible price tag for those of us without the budget of Blair Waldorf. In my travels around the web to find an online site that would offer me the same kind of beautiful, hand picked fashion as my New York favourites, I came across the lovely Style Sequel. Style Sequel sells ‘pre-loved clothing, shoes and accessories’ carefully selected by the Style Sequel team ‘from premium designer labels.’

Through the site you can both buy and sell – today when I browsed new arrivals I spotted a cute Barbara Bui cropped bolero shirt, a Roland Mouret wiggle dress and this Chloe drop stone necklace. Emma Allen, curator of the site, talked to me about Style Sequel and how it works:
“I have been selling high end pre loved designer clothing and accessories for around five years. I started on my own, selling on eBay. Having built up a wonderful list of sellers and buyers over the years and having seen a gap in the market for a specialist, selected clothing reseller I launched Style Sequel in May of this year.
Style Sequel sells beautiful pieces on behalf of stylish women all over the world – our sellers really do come from all countries and continents and we sell for celebrities, fashion editors and top business women. Selling through us could not be easier. We really focus on offering a truly hassle free service with home collections within London and advice on getting items to us / arranging collections outside of London. We aim to list all items within six weeks and we pay money directly into our seller’s bank accounts. Potential sellers can contact us via the website or directly at firstname.lastname@example.org

With my own love of beautiful clothing I ensure we treat all pieces with care and we carry out research where needed to do the items real justice. I think this is one of the things that makes us stand out – the fact that we really do care about the items we are selling and there is nothing we love more than being able to offer our buyers plenty of relevant information on the piece they are looking at – what season it is from, who wore it, whether it is a rare piece etc. Recent examples have been a sold out Isabel Marant jumper from SS11, a Celine red silk blouse from Pheobe Philo’s pre fall 2010 collection, an Hermes JPG bag in classic Hermes orange and a vintage 1990s Chanel jumbo quilted bag. We also offer a 100% authenticity guarantee to our buyers and we keep them updated on new items each week with our targeting style alerts.”
I will definitely be keeping my eye on this site for my favourite designers.
