Neon and Leather: Joy Cioci Laser Cut Leather Dress

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting the SoHo showroom of Joy Cioci.  I was there to take a look at her fall 2012 collection ‘Seductive Survival‘, but I found myself captivated by her colourful spring summer line.

A dazzling palette of crimson, soft pink, pale blue and bold yellow is a treat for the eyes.  Layers of flowing chiffon, leather accents and semi-sheer fabrics come together to create a light and romantic collection.

This Chartreuse dress made from laser cut leather is one of my favourite pieces from Joy’s spring summer line.  When I saw this dress in the showroom, I realised that my evolution from ambassador of monochrome to someone who can embrace print and colour was complete.  The cut out pattern is unique and I adore the peplum overlay with the belt to cinch in the waist.  It makes what might otherwise have been quite a stiff and static piece very feminine.

For more details on this Meagan dress, along with pictures of the entire summer 2012 collection click here.  I’m very much in love with Joy Cioci’s designs and have a couple more to show you on the blog over the next couple of months.

Wearing: Meagan dress, Joy Cioci.  Clutch from the Etsy shop of Curly In The CityFetish Sandal from Mango.

I hope you’re having a great weekend, Blog Reader.  I’ve been busy entertaining a friend from the UK over the 4th July holiday and on Sunday it’s off to Austin for a week of adventure.  I’ll be posting occasionally next week as I’m travelling but you can follow my escapades here on my Travel Tumblr.

I’ve been looking forward to this post since I saw the first sneak peek of this dress on Instagram – what an absolutely stunning piece! The laser cut leather is like nothing I’ve ever seen before and of course, the colour is not for the faint of heart 🙂 Your transformation from ambassador of monochrome to bold woman of style truly is complete in this beautiful Joy Cioci piece. I don’t know if I can ever truly hope to find myself in a situation where a chartreuse dress is something that I am not deathly afraid of wearing, but you have given me hope! Have a wonderful time in Austin, I can’t wait to read about it when you’re back 🙂

    • Cee as long standing followers of each other, you know if I can wear bright neon after all the black, you can too. I love how we both talk of being comfortably chic in our monochromes and greys, but to wear this was something else! x

  14. That dress is amazing and such a gorgeous colour!

  21. CinZilicious says:

OMG…you pulled off this neon yellow dress without a flaw! I dont think it’s easy to pull off a leather or peplum dress but you nailed it for both! The fitting looks so perfect on you and maybe thats cause you have a fab body!!!!!!!! hehe

Laser cut leather eh? That is enough to impress me already! Love the detailing of the patterns too. Anyhow, main point – you rock this dress like a gem!!!!!!!

    • Hey Cinz! Interesting comment about the fit because when I thought of the fabric I thought it would be a little ‘clunky’ but the peplum overlay and the cut outs really soften the look. Thanks for stopping over and writing a note x

  22. this dress is insane and you look soooo fab in it!!!

  29. silver price says:

The highlight of Joy Cioci ‘s Spring 2012 collection are leather pieces with lace-like laser cut-outs – note the contrast between leather and romantic, feminine design. Joy Cioci is very young, and I think that’s the best time to break patterns. The neon yellow dress was the photographers’ favorite.
