Fleet Ilya Diamond Body Piece: Harness Style

A body harness is a key theme for spring summer 2013 according to the recent fashion weeks.  Jason Wu, Herve Leger and BCBGMaxAzria (image far below) all featured such looks within their collection, much to my joy having been a fan of accessorizing this way for a while now.  In this post I’m wearing my new diamond body piece by Fleet Ilya, who have a wide range of harnesses from a simple, thin leather style that sits around the waist and crosses at the back, to a more complicated ‘web’ design that buckles around the neck, waist and ribcage (here) and everything in between.

Below: some of Fleet Ilya’s designs from the web and in the press

I’ve spoken on the blog before about how Fleet Ilya blur the line between leather bondage and fashion accessories with their collection.  I think the harnesses and are a wonderful way to add interest, power and sex appeal to a look.

My favourite way of wearing this body piece right now is with a tailored jacket and a simple white blouse and skinny jeans; and with this white dress from COS.  Since the black tuxedo jacket was another big trend on the catwalk recently, I’d say I’m getting a head start on SS13 too!

There is also something a little equestrian about this look which I love.  It’s smart and not overtly sexual but understated, which I think is the key to incorporating these pieces as outerwear.

This is probably one of my favourite StyleOnTheCouch looks to date – monochrome, tailoring and a harness.

I saw a lot of that 50-shades-of-grey inspired pieces during Fashion Week! it looks so chic on you I would never even think it was bondage inspired

WOW! I love this look and seriously agree with you, one of my favorite outfits of yours.

  6. Definitely a strong & slightly edgy look, but I like how you styled it to make it “you” – you pulled it off very well!

  7. This is definitely on the sexy side. It’s very raw yet feminine – I am fanatical about the way you styled it. Bravo, Sarah, once again you treat us with a perfect outfit post!
I agree with you – this is probably my favourite look yet – Fleet Ilya is truly an inspiration 🙂

I will never stop admiring how well you wear harness accessories and make them look like a normal, albeit extremely stylish and avantgarde, part of your normal wardrobe. I genuinely can’t see myself attempting a look like this – one my curvy frame it would come off quite a bit more bondage, I think! – but I love the way you wear it 🙂

  11. Your harness collection is becoming more and more adventurous! I totally agree with keeping things understated. x

  13. I love this style so much because it makes me feel like I could dress fashionably similar to my dog which is a total compliment because I think the world of my dog. 😀

  14. You have perfectly styled this to look chic and fashion forward as opposed to S&M like….kudos because that is hard to do. Looking lovely as always…hope you are well Sarah! Trying to stop by as often as I can…missing so much …its just crazy w two lil ones to chase after..oh and lack of sleep doesn’t help either. Whats new with you?
